WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER


As the Development Communication Fellow, you will serve an 18-month fellowship as a member of the Wisconsin chapter’s fundraising team. You will be responsible for developing, writing, and producing a variety of communication materials and resources to help advance the fundraising efforts and in preparation for an upcoming major fundraising campaign.

Combining strong writing and creative skills with excellent project management and attention to detail, the Development Communications Fellow will write, edit, and track a suite of cultivation, solicitation, presentation, and stewardship materials that tell the story of our conservation work and support the Wisconsin chapter’s fundraising efforts. You will coordinate with conservation, marketing and communications and finance teams on communications-related work to ensure consistency and alignment on key topics, messaging, themes, and timelines. The Development Communications Fellow also will be responsible for the creation of a donor communications resource library with new and existing materials for use by the out-the-door fundraisers.

This is a short term 18-month position that will be full-time (35 hrs/week). Pay is $27-$30/hour depending on experience. This is a hybrid position based in Madison with the expectation of working from the Madison office three days a week.

We’re looking for a “doer” – someone who is passionate, motivated, and has a keen eye for what makes a compelling story and can apply these talents to support an array of activities that raise funds for conservation.

A significant portion of this role will be creating content for fundraising materials including proposals, renewal letters, donor profiles, social media posts, and event invitations that tell the story of our current conservation priorities and offer donors the opportunity to take action for nature through their support of TNC.

The ideal candidate will have all or some of these qualifications. If you don’t have all of them, apply anyway and tell us about your skills and experience:

  • Strong writing skills and experience developing materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience with science communication writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Graphic design capabilities.
  • Experience working with other communications and marketing positions such photographers, printers and other vendors and staff, as required.
  • The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues from across a variety of teams to help achieve results.
  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural, cross-cultural, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion experience preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-year experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Basic graphic design, layout, and formatting skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.

SALARY INFORMATION


The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $27 – $30 per hour for base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
