The HR Specialist is the initial connection for department customers, providing a positive first impression and triaging questions and workload to appropriate team members. The incumbent also acts as a coordinator for employee special events and activities.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Plan, organize, communicate, and implement Employee Relations special events and activities within budgeted parameters. Posts information on the news section of the intranet and bulletin boards within the hospital. Distributes important information electronically and via interoffice mail to clinic staff.
  • Assists with pre-employment reference checks and other onboarding activities for new employees. Responsible for processing employee ID badges and maintaining records in Epiphany. Guides applicants through the application process and assists with routing of applications.
  • Answers department telephones competently. Responds accurately to inquiries regarding benefits, policies and procedures, demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of H/R procedures, forms and policies; or directs inquiries appropriately.
  • Performs administrative responsibilities and assists the Human Resources Director and associates with special projects.
  • Responsible for maintaining and organizing records and files. Periodically purges outdated files as directed.
  • Responsible for completing wage and employment verifications.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and communicates department meetings, ensuring advanced agenda is prepared, meeting minutes are recorded, and follow-up actions are completed.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of office supplies.
  • Collaborates with all members of the HR team and serves as back-up during absences or in an emergency.
  • Assists with researching and coordinating travel arrangements for employee training and development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Completes department-specific orientation and annual competencies for this position.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Associates Degree, or equivalent experience required
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Previous office experience required
  • 1 year of HR experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills to respond to employee and public requests for information; tactful, courteous; good listening skills. Able to multi-task and prioritize workflow in a fast-paced environment. Must interact well with co-workers and follow instructions of supervisors required
