Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as a Civil or Criminal Legal Administrative Specialist for the United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Wisconsin. Typical work duties include the following:

Organizing and managing discovery materials for assigned cases.
Preparing computerized trial presentation programs; exercise proficiency in the use of eLitigation tools such as Relativity, Concordance, CaseMap, IPRO, ICONECT, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Uses software applications to extract electronic case materials from storage devices or download electronic case materials from secure file transfer sites.
Provides advice, customer support services and project management services in connection with electronic discovery, litigation support projects, and litigation technology software applications.
Maintains accurate and current records regarding incoming electronic case materials, adhering to office tracking protocols, such as by completing standardized inventory or tracking forms.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
GS-09: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in federal service or Education or a Combination of Education and Experience.

Specialized experience: is defined as 1) managing case information through automated means such as scanning, indexing and organizing documents in a database; 2) providing assistance to facilitate the management of incoming and outgoing document discovery in accordance with e-Discovery or similar systems; (3) assisting attorneys with trial preparation; and (4) utilizing office automation tools to create physical and digital trial presentations.
OR
Education: Master's Degree or equivalent graduate degree in a related field (e.g., Legal Studies, Law, Criminal Justice); or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. My education was obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.

Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
