Basic Job Functions:
Responsibilities for the Material Handler Loader / Unloader include but are not limited to:
- Safety, this is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Unload & receive all incoming materials into the storage area using Forklifts and Combi-Lifts.
- Participates in the receiving process of all raw materials and warehouse parts as prescribed by the purchasing team.
- Assure all bundles of material are accounted for, properly packaged, identified, and staged for loading.
- Load all panel bundles & packaged accessories on trailers.
- Inspect all material for damage prior to loading on trailers & during load securement.
- Communicates over radio with team members for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures.
- Perform daily inspections on equipment and report any defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Clean equipment as needed and perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other teammates as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety programs.
- Must have a forklift certification or the ability to achieve a certification within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to operate equipment under varying working conditions.
- Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations.
- Must be able to work flex hours as the needed to meet customer expectations, including working on a different shift.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others and coordinate work activities as a team.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Experience working with computers (ie. Microsoft office, Excel, Word, and Power Point).

Preferences:
- Experience operating heavy machinery other than warehouse forklifts.
- Prior shipping and/or receiving experience in manufacturing.
- Understanding and use of Carrier Point.
