Pharmacy Assistant (Distribution)

To provide stock medicines and other pharmacy-supplied items to wards and departments.

To receive goods delivered to the pharmacy department, including bulk IV fluids and to replenish stocks of medicines and other items held in distribution and in the automated dispensing system.

To work as part of the Pharmacy Distribution Team to provide a timely and effective pharmacy service to the Trust.

To help maintain appropriate stock levels within the pharmacy ensuring date checking and good stock rotation.

To work independently when required, ensuring all polices and procedures are followed closely.

Answer routine queries and resolve straightforward problems from wards / specialties e.g. availability of medicines, understanding when it is appropriate to refer the query to a more senior colleague.

Torbay Hospital provides acute care for the local community and has several community hospitals, and is a hot-spot for those who are considering living by the sea or within half an hour of Dartmoor National Park and an hour to Exmoor National Park. Meanwhile, Plymouth and Exeter are also both within a short drive to enjoy the culture, maritime history and shopping experiences

The post holder will predominantly be part of the distribution team however there will be an element of flexible working within the goods inward section contributing towards delivering a comprehensive pharmacy service to the acute hospital wards, other patient settings, and the community hospitals.
