The HIPAA Privacy Investigator is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) by investigating privacy complaints, breaches, and violations. This role involves conducting thorough investigations, analyzing data, and collaborating with various departments to ensure the protection of patient information and adherence to privacy regulations. The Privacy Investigator is responsible to conduct detailed investigations into reported privacy complaints and breaches, including interviewing involved parties, reviewing relevant documentation, and gathering evidence. Additionally, the Privacy Investigator will respond promptly to privacy incidents, breaches, and violations, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Investigate Privacy Complaints: Conduct detailed investigations into reported privacy complaints and breaches, including interviewing involved parties, reviewing relevant documentation, and gathering evidence.
  • Respond promptly to privacy incidents, breaches, and violations, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of investigations, findings, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports on investigation findings, compliance status, and recommended actions for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with the Privacy Officer, legal team, IT department, and other stakeholders to address privacy concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training and guidance to associates and leadership on HIPAA privacy regulations and best practices to prevent future breaches.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of privacy policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential privacy vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and assess organizational compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal privacy policies.
Experience We Love:
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Teams Applications.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in healthcare privacy compliance (HIPAA).
  • ONE CERTIFICATION PER FIELD CHPC or CHC or other approved Healthcare Privacy/Compliance Certification within 9 months post-hire
