WHAT YOU WILL DO
- JOB SUMMARY
Monitors, handles and tests finished mill rolls of tobacco sheet, powder or other related material/sheet as it comes off the sheet-forming line.
- WHAT YOU WILL DO
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Removes finished product from windup or hopper outlet, performs finish packaging, moves, weighs, labels and completes all necessary paperwork
- Tests tobacco sheet or powder for proper thickness, weight, moisture, color, size or other requirements in accordance with manufacturing specifications
- Controls and adjusts equipment and material such as belt coolers, temperature regulation, re-dryer steam pressure, reducing stations and humidifier controls to maintain manufacturing specifications
- Records and file test data manually and electronically
- Stocks empty barrels on production line and moves full barrels to pallets as required
- Assembles and disassembles mill roll cores
- Changes doctor knives and cleans continuous doctor knife systems.
- Adjusts rollers, controls speed of windup, threads sheets from doctor knife to windup for roll startup and breaks
- Inspects material or product for damage and for conformity to specifications, tags mill rolls with identifying information when visual imperfections occur and communicates information to the Wet End Operator
- Delivers finished mill rolls to Slitting
- Gathers, weighs, transports and records dry end waste
- Performs gauge readings on lines
- Responsible for ensuring the production of a product that meets all quality requirements and follows the production schedule.
- Conducts 6S audits
- Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly on a continuous basis
- Performs duties in a safe manner. Abides by all established safety policies.
- Performs duties within guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices
- Conducts autonomous maintenance tasks as required.
- Performs other duties as required
WORK HOURS
8 hrs/day (Note: Overtime requirements may change at the employer’s discretion and will be offered/assigned in accordance with labor contract)
QUALIFICATIONS
- REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
- Ability to understand and calculate basic math. Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use a standard calculator.
- Ability to learn from directions, observations, and mistakes, and apply procedures using good judgment.
- Ability to work independently or part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others.
- Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counselling and/or action/discipline.
- Ability to use basic computer systems and key entry data collectors.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMAND:
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED
Cut-resistant gloves, heat resistant gloves, arm protectors, lab coats, safety shoes, food safety hair and beard nets.
OTHER TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED
Safety knife, putty knife, ruler, tape measure, scales, and laboratory test equipment.
