Staff Accountant

Our offices are located Coral Gables, FL (33134). We are only considering local candidates already residing in Miami within a daily commute distance. This position is 100% on-site.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in financial concepts and accounting principles (GAAP). This position is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, cash flow statements, tax sales, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization
• Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statement, and profit and lost statement.
• Accurately maintains the general ledger
• Responsible for all aspects of the Month-end close process.
• Royalties reconciliation along with any large vendor withdrawing funds to ensure validity of charges
• Work with the financial analyst to ensure data is correctly recorded for financial reporting
• Perform day to day accounting functions, codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
• File monthly sales tax payments in all states along with annual renewals for all other types of taxes relating to the stores
• Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections. Assist with Accounts Payable tasks and functions as needed
• Provide outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audits
• Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
• Assist with the entering of payroll data into the Financial System
• Assist with A/P, if needed
• Support for future acquisitions and other related growth projects
• Supports and performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in accounting, from an accredited USA university
• Two years of related accounting or booking experience
• Experience and familiarity with accounting software or other ERP systems
• Microsoft Excel Advanced working experience

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
