Join our dynamic Branch Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our branch! Reporting to the Branch Manager, this pivotal role is your opportunity to lead strategy development, manage critical issues, and spearhead the implementation of groundbreaking initiatives across the branch and enterprise. As a key member of the Branch Manager’s Office, this role is responsible for coordinating the activities of the branch such as council reports, performance reporting and evaluation, implementation, project management, strategic planning, budget development and financial oversight. Working alongside organizational leaders, you'll be instrumental in handling complex, confidential, and politically sensitive assignments. What will you do?

  • Collaborate across organizational lines to develop and facilitate effective solutions on branch initiatives, programs and projects (e.g. branch strategic plans, budget development, performance measures etc.)

  • Act as the first point of contact on all branch leadership communications
  • Ensure that emerging issues are brought to the attention of the Branch Manager and appropriate senior leadership in a timely manner and respecting any sensitivities
  • Conduct environmental scans to identify trends and opportunities to ensure relevancy, efficiency and effectiveness of branch operations
  • Build relationships with staff within the branch and across the corporation for strong coordination and integration of city programs and services
  • Review Council Reports, citizen and Council inquiries, briefings and presentations for content and completeness, edit and provide direction to branch team members and interact with all levels of the Corporation and/or external stakeholders
  • Define and provide input for the strategic direction and policy setting for the Branch, ensuring they align with Branch goals and action plans; this includes strategic consultation, strategy development, and long term planning
  • Make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations for the Branch
  • Engage and support staff in developing action plans to enhance communication, solve problems creatively, promote integration and support excellence

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge, training, and/or education in Public Administration, Commerce, Social Sciences, Political Science, Sociology or a related discipline. Equivalent education and experience may be considered

  • Experience in progressively responsible strategic and management disciplines

Skills required for success:

  • Strong political acumen and advanced communication skills, including the ability to advise senior leadership on sensitive issues and produce high-quality reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with the ability to handle diverse areas like political analysis, budget management, human resources, communications, and project management
  • Proven ability to analyze information, translate ideas and concepts into effective and efficient strategies, problem-solve using interest-based approaches, and apply an understanding of business process improvement and change management
  • A future-focused, proactive approach to work with the ability to influence key decision-makers and support a respectful, collaborative workplace culture
  • Proficiency in organization, time/project management, and advanced computer skills including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office

Conditions of employment and work environment:

  • Up to: 1 permanent, full-time position

  • Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Salary Range: $90,239.61 - $112,800.95 (Annually)
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
  • This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)
