POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- Full Time, 40 hours per week
- Location: 153 Market Street in Downtown Hartford, easily accessible for all commuters.
- Monday - Friday
- 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Hybrid (combination of in-office/telework)
- Learn about the risks associated with insurance entities and how to mitigate them.
- Verify the effectiveness of insurance company controls in reducing risks.
- Develop a deep understanding of Connecticut and other regulatory guidelines that insurance companies must strictly adhere to.
- Participate in training sessions conducted by experienced insurance department employees, engaging in webinars and receiving comprehensive on-the-job training.
- Collaborate with a team of professionals who demonstrate strong collaboration skills as part of an examination team, where you will gain valuable insights into the intricacies of the examination process.
- Report directly to the lead examiner of the assigned examination team.
- Work closely with other examiners to successfully implement examinations and interact with insurance company personnel.
PROMOTION OPPORTUNITY
Incumbents in this class will be eligible for reclassification to the designated class without competitive examination upon successful completion of the development program and satisfactory service. The designated class for this development program is Insurance Examiner (Examination and Market Conduct).

For current state employees compensation will be in accordance with guidelines for computing salary adjustments set forth by the Department of Administrative Services, Determining Salary Upon Change in Class Manual.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency this class is accountable for mastering the skills necessary to satisfactorily complete the training program for a professional accounting or auditing position.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Receives training in introductory accounting or auditing work for development of skills and knowledge in order to qualify for advancement into a professional agency accounting or auditing position;
- Performs a variety of increasingly difficult duties as skills are acquired during the course of the training period;
- Examines financial records of governmental or private businesses and accounting methods and procedures to ensure compliance with statutes, regulations, guidelines or accepted accounting principles;
- May receive training in such areas as maintaining financial records and accounts, establishing financial statements and schedules, and preparing budget estimates;
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
