About the role | Ko te mahi nei
This role is responsible for maximising the customer experience and providing maintenance support for our outdoor sports facilities, specifically Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub, Canterbury's sporting home for Canterbury athletics, hockey, tennis, rugby league and netball. Duties also include:
- Keeping our facilities running smoothly over our busy summer season. This includes the set up and pack out for sporting events along with identifying any maintenance issues, repairing these issues or co-ordinating with contractor to get a successful outcome. This role will also involve hands on the tools, with various planned projects to be completed around the site to demonstrate your DIY skills.
- You will be a go-to point for customers during events and effectively contribute to the delivery of a branded customer experience that is engaging and adhering to customer service standards and normal operating procedures.
- Through the summer months you will also support the delivery of international cricket fixtures at Hagley Oval - Christchurch's premier cricket ground.
About you | Ko Koe Tēnei
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have previous experience interacting with customers along with maintenance and/or DIY skills.
- An interest in the events and recreation industry.
- You will be results focused and have the drive to self-manage and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- A current, full drivers licence is advantageous.
- A comprehensive First Aid certification is required.
- You will bring a can do attitude to the role and have the ability to solve problems and effectively use your conflict resolution skills when required.

- Hours of work: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Position: Fixed-term for 6 months.
- Location: This position is primarily based at Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub/ Hagley Oval or other Recreation & Sport Centre facilities.
- Salary: $27.80 per hour, we pay the living wage!
