Job Description Summary The Administrative Assistant and Human Resource Coordinator provide day-to-day HR support and general administrative support to the Canaan site. Maintains and administers policies, procedures and programs for associates in the areas of new hire onboarding, associate relations, associate engagement initiatives, employment matters, communications, payroll and corporate shared services. Supports the site Operations Excellence Manager and his leadership team with administrative matters including event coordination, site meeting coordination, communication events, and presentation preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the HR Manager with the full range of administration required to ensure associates are provided prompt response to their needs and concerns.

  • Liaisons with the associate service center, and other shared services groups to ensure benefits, compensation, payroll, performance, and other HR matters are resolved.

  • Supports the recruiting process, working with the RPO - coordinates interviewing, and supports the pre-hire process.

  • Coordinates the new hire onboarding process with the RPO to provide a positive assimilation of new associates to BD Canaan.

  • Supports the site Operations Excellence Manager and designated LT members with administrative matters, event and meeting coordination, communications, presentations, and other projects as necessary.

  • Supports HR processes such as performance appraisals, job evaluations, educational assistance requests and disciplinary action, ensuring consistency in administration. Liaisons with Access HR to administer associate performance documentation and corrective actions.

  • Develops content for and maintains site communications, bulletin boards/electronic communications. Supports the LT with monthly associates’ newsletter content.

  • Communicates, interprets, and supports the implementation of HR policies as needed.

  • Supports associates with their questions, requests, and/or concerns and guides them to the appropriate shared services group or Access HR.

  • Supports managers, supervisors, team leaders & associates to increase organizational productivity and team effectiveness.

  • Supports and coordinates associate engagement and recognition efforts including site recognition programs and associate events (annual service awards, picnic, on-site holiday celebrations).

  • Works closely with HR Manager to ensure compliance with HR regulated legal mandates, such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and Title VII, and all local, state, federal, and BD regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as required by the Human Resources Manager.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. required

  • Supportive service orientation – previous experience supporting managers / leadership teams in administrative assistant roles and/or HR administration.

  • Previous experience with HR matters: processing new hires, employee life cycle administration, separations in HR systems (WorkDay).

  • Experience Developing communications, digital newsletters, electronic & paper distribution
