As an Apprentice Plumber in the Construction group you will be learning all aspects of the installation process while continuing your education.

Job functions and duties(other duties may be assigned)

Apprentice I- School year 1 and 2

This would require indentured to the State of Utah and enrollment in a qualified apprenticeship program.

General areas of performance:

Entry level pipe installation (gas, water, drainage, and mechanical)
Shoot grade and elevation math
Set Finish fixtures
Entry level plan reading
Operation of a threading/groove machine
Train Laborers

Apprentice II- School year 3 and 4

General areas of performance:

Help Install Mechanical equipment (boilers, chillers, pumps, etc)
General pipefitting (for welded pipe)
Operate Forklift and lifts and obtain necessary certifications
Train Laborers and Apprentice I’s.

Must show competency in:

Customer relations
Ability to read plans and do a take off
Familiarity with Scope of work and the contract
Identification when a change order or RFI is needed

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Attending a qualified apprenticeship program.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages, as well as draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Valid driver's license

This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and in possible extreme weather conditions.

The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment.
The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage) and vibration.

The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Work Availability and Requirements

Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.
Regular travel requirements with some overnight travel.
