Casual Event Staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, work, and pack down events across various locations on campus

• Collaborate effectively with a team to ensure smooth event operations

• Occasionally work independently to manage smaller events, once fully trained

• Ensure all events run efficiently and safely, adhering to University guidelines

• Provide high-quality customer service to event attendees

• Handle event equipment and materials with care, ensuring proper storage and usage

Requirements:

• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn

• Physical capability to assist with event setup and pack-down (e.g., moving furniture and equipment)

Desirable (but not essential):

• Previous event or hospitality experience

• Familiarity with the University of Otago campus

• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends

Training & Support: Full training will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary, though it is advantageous. Successful candidates will receive guidance to ensure they are confident in their role and able to manage tasks independently when required.
