Job overview
We are looking for a committed and proactive Clerk to the Board to provide high-quality governance and administrative support to the Board of Directors and its committees. This is a key role in ensuring the effective operation of our governance processes and maintaining statutory compliance.
What you will be doing:
- Organising, attending and supporting all Board and committee meetings (approx. 30 annually, mostly remote during weekday evenings, with circa 7 on-site meetings).
- Drafting accurate and reflective minutes using AI tools (where applicable), and tracking actions to completion.
- Maintaining statutory governance records and ensuring compliance with company and education frameworks.
- Ensuring governance documents are accessible, accurate and well-maintained.
- Liaising regularly with the Chair of the Board, Committee Chairs, and senior leaders.
We are looking for someone who:

Has proven experience in a governance, senior administration or compliance-focused role (ideally within education or regulated sectors).

Excellent organisational and written communication skills.

Confidence using Microsoft 365 (Word, Teams, Excel) and digital tools to manage records and meeting materials.

A flexible, calm and professional approach, with the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

A strong sense of integrity, attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Can prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
Part time hours: 2-3 days per week (15 hours) during school terms (39 weeks). We can offer flexibility around the 15 hours, provided that 15 hours are worked each week. This flexibility should also take into account attendance at regular board meetings. In addition, time off in lieu (TOIL) may be taken where appropriate, by prior agreement with your line manager.
Attendance at evening (remote) meetings is essential.
