Collection Retrieval and Delivery

• Work amongst the Library’s extensive and unique physical collections
• Contribute to the safe access and handling of collection items
• Support the Library’s Fellowships, Reference, Exhibition, Curatorial, and Digitisation teams

The Library is seeking to fill two ongoing, full-time APS 2 Library Assistant, Collection Retrieval and Delivery roles in the Reader Services Section of the Engagement Branch.

Both roles work behind-the-scenes of the Library’s Collection Delivery Service undertaking the same range of tasks, including:

• Retrieval and delivery of the Library’s print collections from closed stack areas to the reading rooms or other organisational work areas.

• Refiling of requested items and filing of items recently acquired.
• Straightforward collection maintenance to ensure collection safety and efficient retrieval.
• Conducting shelf-checks, catalogue searches and escalation of issues impacting collection discoverability when appropriate and under direction.
• Supporting minor collection moves or enhancement projects.

• PC-based tasks
• Lifting material weighing up to 10 kilos
• Pushing trolleys
• Retrieving material from high- and low-level shelving in motorised and static compactus.
