Reporting to the Team Lead of Employment Services, you will lead recruitment, employee development, and process modernization for Calgary Transit overseeing the Recruitment Officers, Employee Records Administrator and Employment Analyst to hire and onboard Transit Operators, Community Shuttle Operators, Light Rail Transit (LRT) Operators and support staff. Primary duties include:
  • Mange performance and supervise administrative staff including recruitment and selection, training, investigations and disciplinary issues.
  • Oversee end to end recruitment for all Calgary Transit Operators and other roles including reviewing postings, screening, interviews, reference checks and offers.
  • Ensure staff are compliant with legislation, City policies and safety requirements.
  • Make final selection decisions and address grievances.
  • Participate in Hiring Fairs, host outreach sessions, open houses, and other hiring efforts to attract new applicants.
  • Develop workforce plans, align hiring with budgeted Full Time Equivalents and operational needs.
  • Lead workforce planning meetings, leverage data to track turnover, and implement diversity outreach.
  • Facilitate and expand employee development programs (i.e., Supervisor Development Program).
  • Audit and analyze recruitment and administrative processes, driving automation and paperless systems.
  • Maintain Calgary Transit Recruitment webpage and candidate tracking systems.
Qualifications
  • A completed 2 year diploma in Human Resources (HR), Business Administration or a related field and at least 4 years of related experience in recruitment/HR, workforce planning or related with at least 2 years supervising employees.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word) is required.
  • Experience in change management, planning and research and supervising staff is an asset.
  • Ability to work and thrive independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Workstyle:
This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
