Your Role:
Do you want to work with a team of high-powered journalists who are making an impact on education policy nationwide? Are you interested in learning about investigative reporting, long-form storytelling and data-driven journalism? If so, this yearlong fellowship is for you.
You’ll have an opportunity to work with the team behind the groundbreaking podcast Sold a Story. You will continue the reporting in Sold a Story’s award-winning first season while also helping to craft Season 2.
During this fellowship, you’ll learn what it takes to produce a narrative, investigative podcast that features compelling characters and a strong sense of place. You’ll also contribute to digital storytelling, both on the web and on social media.
We are looking for someone who is curious, flexible, loves to write, is interested in education policy and history, and has data skills.
We’re also looking for someone who loves combing through the library stacks to do historical research, tracking down archival audio/video, searching news archives, working on timelines and summarizing the materials. While you’ll have editorial guidance from a smart and experienced crew, you’ll need to work independently and be self-directed.
While journalism experience is preferred, we will also consider candidates with backgrounds in different fields who are looking for a pathway into journalism.
