The vacancy

About the role

Hours: Part time working 16 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays. Weekly working days based on a 3-week rotating shift pattern. Shifts typically start art 3.30/4pm and finish at 7pm. Flexibility may be required.

You will join a dedicated Estates Team who pride themselves on delivering a first-class support service. Duties will include the cleaning of all clinical areas for example the in-patient unit, outpatient rooms and non-clinical areas such as offices, meeting rooms and reception areas. You will be expected to work alongside other members of the team and on occasion on your own.

You will be expected to demonstrate the key characteristics of the job description and have a good knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety procedures, infection control and COSHH regulations.

All our staff work hard to uphold our values and be ambassadors for the Hospice, this is especially important as you will be interacting with patients and visitors regularly as your daily work.


The main responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning Floors, furniture and fittings and toilets.
  • Thorough cleaning of rooms and equipment on discharge of a patient.
  • Emptying and cleaning of waste bins and disposing of waste in line with hospice policies and procedures.
  • Replenishing disposable items e.g. hand towels, toilet rolls, soap, alcohol gel etc.
  • Bed making is required in overnight stay suite.
  • Maintaining own equipment and materials in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Reporting faults in equipment or in the building fabric to the Estates team
