Salary Range: $24.00 to $25.00 per hour

The Opportunity

The HR Operations Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Operations Department of the Paleovalley and Wild Pastures organizations, with a strong focus towards supporting the daily operations of the HR function. This position will perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of the Human Resources department. This will include supporting the recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, training and development, and offboarding process.

Essential Functions

  • Provide administrative support to the Operations Department, including document creation and maintenance, support purchase order paperwork, travel arrangement support, and safety projects.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR function.
  • Answer routine HR questions from employees and applicants, referring complex and/or sensitive issues to the appropriate staff.
  • Respond to routine requests from outside agencies, such as verification of employment requests.
  • Support recruiting efforts by maintaining ATS, screening applications, and scheduling and conducting interviews as needed.
  • Process employee status changes and create documents for each transaction, such as hires, status changes, and terminations. Maintain records of completed transactions.
  • Maintain system access for company systems.
  • Maintain and organize employee records.
  • Support employee lifecycle and provide backup as needed to the HR Generalist, for new hire onboarding, employee engagement, benefits administration, HRIS status changes, and offboarding.
  • Support compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices in HR, recruiting, and talent management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn virtual tools, such as Zoom, Slack, and Monday.com.

Required Education And Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience required providing administrative support, clerical support, and/or customer service.
  • Required knowledge of basic HR practices, obtained either through relevant work experience or through completion of an HR degree or certification program.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Prior work experience supporting an HR department, either as an HR Intern, HR Assistant, HR Coordinator, or similar.
  • HR certification (aPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and ATS systems is strongly preferred (any systems but bonus points for Rippling and JazzHR).
  • Experience in recruiting and managing employee data changes is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a remote environment supporting distributed workforces and multi-state organizations is strongly preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

While the certification itself is not required, an HR knowledge level equivalent to the HRCI aPHR certification is required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies that weigh up to 20 pounds, and to bend and stand as necessary.

This is a full-time position during regular business hours.
