You will be accountable for supporting implementation and execution of process safety programs from both a regulatory and technical perspective.
This role provides you with the opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge and skills to ensure a strong performance and continuous improvement of Commerce City Refinery’s process safety management practices. As a member of the Operations Excellence Management Systems (OEMS) team, in close collaboration with multiple departments, the position supports the sustainment and development of the refinery's activities in Operational Safety with a focus on the health & safety of personnel, the environment and the safe operation of the processing units. You will manage the overall incident program and provide the know-how, technical support, quality control, coaching and necessary training for a solid and successful Root Cause Analysis program at the refinery. The incident investigator specialist will coach and support the training and development of incident team members and leaders.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of related process safety experience
  • Previous experience with Tap Root Cause analysis
  • Knowledge of principles of risk management and management of change
  • Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive approach to health and safety, the environment, and safe operation of the refinery
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA for the duration of your employment

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the overall incident program and provide the know-how, technical support, quality control, coaching and necessary training for a solid and successful Root Cause Analysis program at the refinery
  • Coach and support the training and development of incident team members and leaders
  • Ensure incident learnings from investigations are included in the Enterprise repository, and engagements are held with frontline personnel, including contractors
  • Gather and analyze incident data from both internal and external learnings to identify trends for awareness and identify actions to manage risk
  • Participate in quarterly investigation quality audits as part of a rotating cross-functional team
  • Leverage Enterprise wide data platforms (Power BI, Enablon, etc) to consolidate and contribute to the analysis and drive continuous improvement
  • Participate in self-assessments and audits of Process Safety Management systems to ensure compliance and effectiveness
  • Lead monthly audits of corrective actions, opened, closed and extended, with feedback coaching to action owners, and lead management of change activities in support of process safety improvements involving multiple operating areas and disciplines

Location and other Key Details:
  • You will work out of our Refinery and Business Center building, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd. Commerce City, CO which is adjacent to Denver

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs

Salary and Compensation Details:
  • $110,000 - $145,000 annual salary and an annual incentive (bonus) program
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
