About the Role
As a Youth Learning Mentor, you will:
- Create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
- Support learners with additional needs or challenging behaviour
- Manage classroom behaviour and promote positive participation
- Provide 1:1 and group mentoring to support learners’ progress
- Supervise learners during breaks and activities
- Lead and support learner enrichment sessions and off-site trips
- Use appropriate de-escalation techniques or physical intervention where necessary (full training provided)
- Assist Skills Tutors with delivering the curriculum and developing learning resources
- Track learner attendance, progress, and provide admin support
- Champion safeguarding, equality, and learner wellbeing
- Travel between delivery centres may be required
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with young people, particularly those who are disengaged or have Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour with confidence
- Youth Work or Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above
- Strong team player with a positive, proactive attitude
- Passion for learning, creativity, and making a difference
- Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential
