Labourer - Exploration, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Superintendent, Facilities, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.


Responsibilities

  • Assist Tradesmen in performing daily functions at the mine, such as assisting operators in avoiding any potential collisions or accidents;
  • Complete ground crew responsibilities for inbound and outbound flights;
  • Ensure that trucks and equipment are safely and securely stored;
  • Organize the sea cans and ensure accessibility throughout the year;
  • Load, unload, and identify construction materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations;
  • Clean and prepare sites to eliminate possible hazards e.g., tripping hazards; and ensure all safety standards are met;
  • Keep entrances clear of rubbish and unwanted items in accordance with site standards;
  • Clean and stack salvaged material to a safe standard, clean up chemical spills and other contaminants in accordance with health and safety practices;
  • Assist Operators with waste management and emptying pactos;
  • Shovel, plow, and sand pathways as required during winter months; and
  • Report deficiencies in site product stocking levels as required to supervisor.

Desired Competencies and Requirements


  • One (1) year of general labourer experience in a remote camp environment. Prior work at a mine site is preferred;
  • Completion of High school diploma or GED; and
  • Ability to comprehend, read, write, and converse in functional English to ensure safe working conditions on site.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $79,924.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $29.00 and overtime rate of $43.50) in a work year.
