We are currently looking to appoint a Librarian to manage and oversee the Library at Harris Academy Morden, two days per week, maintaining a professional, stimulating and tidy learning environment at all times and foregrounding student achievements.

Harris Academy Morden is located favourably for public transport with good local access to bus, tram and train links to mainline rail and the underground network
Main Areas of Responsibility
Your responsibilities will include:
- Management, organisation and supervision of the Library;
- To ensure that all learning resources equipment is well maintained, reporting all computer faults immediately to the ICT team;
- To maintain a professional, stimulating and tidy learning environment at all times, foregrounding student achievements;
- To provide advice to students regarding use, provision, development of Learning Resources;
- To liaise with the English team to publicise and organise an annual book week, liaising with authors, publishers etc;
- To liaise with the English to organise visits from writers to raise the profile of reading and writing for pleasure;
- To facilitate reading groups for students identified by the Literacy Coordinator;
- To liaise with Literacy Coordinator on the Library budget and purchase of books and equipment;
- Encouraging the effective use of the Library across the curriculum at Key Stage 3/4;
- Providing guidance to groups and individuals using the Library;
- Liaison with other information agencies as well as LRC managers across the Federation in order to provide an excellent service;
- A flexible approach to working hours is required;
- To keep appropriate and effective records using academy ICT systems, that will enable efficient management of resources across the academy;
- Disseminating information on resources and access to staff and students;
- To monitor, evaluate and review the use and development of the area, this to include procedures for collecting data, eg. student questionnaires;
- To organise and supervise lunch time and break time use of resources for students. Eg. study support
Qualifications & Experience
We would like to hear from you if you have:
- English and Mathematics GCSE or equivalent
- Degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of library systems
- Knowledge of Accelerated Reading, or similar reading scheme
- Knowledge of National Curriculum, particularly for English
- Three years' experience of working in an inner city school or educational establishment
- Experience of managing a library service
- Experience of a range of reading schemes
