Library Assistant-Cannock Library

Do you want to work in the valued community setting of a library?
In this customer facing role, you will be dealing with customers either face to face, via email or by telephone to help answer day to day library enquiries.
With a high standard of customer service, you will help us to provide a range of services that support the delivery of the library offer, including the provision of IT support, information and activities for all ages. Activities will include children's rhyme times, craft and book-related events. You will help people to access the full range of library resources and will contribute to people’s positive experience of using our service.
The post holder will be based at Cannock Library but may be required to work at other libraries in the district, including Rugeley, Codsall, Perton and Wombourne. The library is open daily Monday to Saturday.
The successful candidates would work 37 hours a week average including weekend working.
Week 1
Monday 8.30-5 = 7hrs 30mins
Tuesday 8.45-7 = 9hrs 15mins
Wednesday 8.45-5 = 7hrs 15mins
Thursday 8.45-5 = 7hrs 15mins
Friday 8.30-2 = 5hrs 30mins
Saturday OFF
Total Hours = 36hrs 45mins
Week 2
Monday 8.30-5 = 7hrs 30mins
Tuesday 8.45-7 = 9hrs 15mins
Wednesday 8.45-5 = 7hrs 15mins
Thursday 8.45-5 = 7hrs 15mins
Friday OFF
Saturday 9-4 = 6hrs
Total Hours =37hrs 15mins
Main ResponsibilitiesTo give you an idea, some of the key things you’ll do will include:
- Helping customers find the information and resources they need
- Providing essential digital support to customers using PCs within our libraries or accessing e-services
- Supporting projects and activities for all ages
- Promoting library stock, services and events through social media and outreach events
- Sales and cash handling
- Local studies enquiries.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A passion for working with and helping customers, demonstrating recent experience of serving customers of all ages from across the whole community, face to face.
- High level of self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative
- Personal drive, confidence, and enthusiasm
- Flexibility and adaptability
- An interest in working with children, delivering activities such as rhyme and story times.
- As a full time Library Assistant you will provide essential support to the Onsite Supervisor.
