PROGRAM DESCRIPTION (BACKGROUND)

JOB DESCRIPTION *

JOB SUMMARY: The Officer, Mission Medical Commodities will assist the mission medical commodities manager in distributing and tracking medical commodities at supported health facilities. All communications and documentation necessary to transport pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities to field site delivery points will be managed by the officer. This position will also be responsible of coaching and guiding medical officers and program officers. In addition, the medical commodities officer will undertake capacity building of office medical program and support staff through on-the-job training and use of standard quality assurance tools.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and prepare monthly pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities supply distribution plan, update as needed, and ensure that it is clearly communicated to concerned parties
  • Prepare shipment documents, follow through to collect signatures, and finalize for record keeping
  • Compile data and submit timely reports including weekly and monthly commodities distribution reports
  • Collaborate with the warehouse and logistics teams at project sites to ensure accuracy of documentation and timely deliveries to health facilities
  • Work with field medical officers and health facility directors to get feedbacks, requests and delivery confirmations for all pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities
  • Track and record monthly consumption reports;
  • Analyze reports’ results with the medical commodities manager; Determine and customize supply of pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities based on actual needs of health facilities
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to medical/program officers in the assigned medical office
  • Adhere to IMC code of conduct and internationally accepted humanitarian principles

JOB REQUIREMENTS *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pharm-D or Typically, a University degree in related area. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Typically, 3+ years of relevant experience working with pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities.
  • Experience with ordering and tracking medical procurements
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and to track performance against program indicators
  • Fluency in oral and written English required
  • Fluency in national & local languages preferred
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word
  • Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures
  • Ability to guide, supervise, coach and train others
