- To supervise the operation of a concrete plant including concrete mixer drivers and plant maintenance to ensure delivery of quality product, timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
- Responsible for ensuring safety guideline are followed by employees on a daily basis.
- Correct safety issues immediately.
- Responsible for keeping accurate safety records.
- Demonstrate a commitment to meet/exceed environmental compliance.
- Communicate opportunities and threats to Plant Manager.
- Follow up on calls and upsell products when possible.
- Maintain an accurate daily and monthly records.
- Ensure all ‘cash on delivery’ money is collected, keep an accurate account of sales and quotes.
- Keep an accurate account of fuel usage.
- Ensure all invoices are approved and processed in a timely manner.
- Ensure drivers are completing and submitting all necessary paperwork
- Responsible for supervision of Ready Mix drivers on a daily basis.
- Responsible for concrete batch operations.
- Schedule jobs and drivers to ensure the best use of the fleet.
- Plan in advance for all material required to complete upcoming jobs.
- Ensure an accurate billing process.
- Manage inventory of materials, physical inventory counts each month, order materials etc.
- Effectively utilizes Key Performance Indicators, efficiency reviews, financial statements and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.
- Maintains, or arranges the maintenance of, the plant in accordance with standard guidelines for plant image, cleanliness and appearance
- Implement Lafarge quality program, including conducting sampling of concrete and aggregates, testing of plastic concrete air content, slump, temperature, casting of concrete test cylinders, conducting trials, record keeping and reporting thereof.
- Must be able to conduct quality control tests without direct supervision and within the precision standards established by CSA, ASTM, and ACI, both on site and at the plant.
- Obtain and maintain valid ACI Field Testing Technician Certification.
- Pick up and drop off materials and samples as needed from plant(s) and job site(s)
Qualification Profile
- Minimum High School Diploma, Post-Secondary education in related field is preferred
- Capable of traveling (on occasion) to locations in Northern Ontario over multiple days.
- Experience in the ready mix business preferred
- Excellent Communication skills – verbal and written
- Able to multi-task, prioritize and maintain composure in a busy environment
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, SAP, Command-Alkon)
- Available to work overtime as needed
- Customer Service oriented
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
