Patients' Library Assistant/Learning Support Assistant

You will use communication, IT, observation and emotional intelligence on a daily basis. This role supports the library team leader by assisting with the basic running of the patients' library as well as ensuring the organisation of stock is maintained. There is the requirement to help escort patients from ward areas. Good time management is key to ensuring the smooth running of the library's timetable.

As a learning support assistant you will take direction from teaching staff and work with patients on a one to one basis and also in small groups. Both roles will require the successful candidate to work onto the wards in an outreach capacity by extending the services for those patients that are unable to attend off-ward areas. You will also be responsible for daily and weekly security checks in various areas. You will be radio trained so effective communication with the control room is maintained.

Both roles require the successful candidate to contribute to electronic records on a daily basis. You will work within various teams so good team-working skills are essential.
