Procurement Specialist/Buyer

Job Summary

The Purchasing Specialist will support our Baytown Facility on-site purchasing needs. This will include facilitating the efficient and effective procurement of direct and indirect materials for the Baytown Facility. This role will report to the SVP of Supply Chain.

Job Responsibilities

• Manages assigned day-to-day transactional execution activity including but not limited to obtaining quotes and bids and purchase order creation/release.
• Ensuring vendor support is provided when needed, expediting, invoice exception management, and closure of Purchase Orders
• Supports the development and maintenance of all reports and KPIs needed to demonstrate vendor performance.
• Closely monitors and expedites emergency purchase orders.
• Performs change management on purchase orders as required (i.e. increases/decreases)
• Reconciles invoice exceptions to enable vendor payment.
• Ensures procurement of materials and services from approved vendors
• Proactively seeks to reduce Procurement spend, increase value from our suppliers, identify work improvements to drive efficiency (including automation), and report on savings/value generated.
• Builds and maintains collaborative and cohesive relationships with key internal business stakeholders to assist with improved demand planning, scope development, and quality of purchasing requests to improve Procurement's ability to deliver the right material/services, on-time, and at best total cost of ownership.
• Provides emergency support to operations as needed.
• Works with plant leadership to ensure all required parts and materials are available on-site to support scheduled plant turnarounds.
• Become knowledgeable on categories of products and vendors to facilitate proper stock replenishment.
• Categories to be managed on-site include MRO, Spare Parts, Office Supplier, Chemicals, Site-Services, and Others as identified.
• Support after-hours procurement requirements as needed.
• Maintain clean and organized plant parts and chemicals warehouse.
  
  

Education/Work Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or similar with 3+ years of relevant working experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong multi-tasking and organizational abilities, including PO recordkeeping and administration.
• Able to work independently and facilitate discussion between the various internal teams and external vendors.
• Be attentive to details.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude with co-workers, vendors, and customers.
