RTI is seeking a Project Associate, Communications for USAID’s Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) | East Program, a global flagship initiative that has supported 13 countries working to control and eliminate neglected tropical diseases. The Project Associate, Communications will provide project management support, as well as support for key communications and knowledge management support functions. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, be creative, and excited about making products and processes work to support a diverse and driven team.

This will be a full-time position based in Washington D.C. or the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina (RTI headquarters). Remote candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The position may be expected to travel (domestic or internationally) up to 15% of the time and will report to the Senior Communications Manager. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.


Responsibilities
  • Provide project management and operational support to project management teams ensuring overall effectiveness and compliance. This may include consult management and invoicing, procurement, activity budget management, support for travel, and other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the publications coordinator and technical team to support the program’s conference submission to manuscript pipeline.
  • Assist staff with formatting and preparation of presentations and other visuals for both internal and external audiences.
  • Support and promote project attendance at global events including conferences, workshops, webinars, panel presentations, receptions, social media events, briefings, etc. At times, attend/staff events in person.
  • Support drafting project-related content for use across RTI’s social media platforms.
  • Create or manage creation of content-rich visuals, including for presentations and infographics.
  • Provide administrative support for project meetings, including scheduling, minutes, and other support, as needed.
  • Track and report out on analytics for social media and websites managed by the project.
  • Support development of email blasts, including drafting content and maintaining and updating contact lists.
  • Draft and post web content on ActEast.org and NTDToolbox.org.
  • Support the development and maintenance of strong knowledge management practices by the project, including storing, organizing, labeling files (all file types, including photos and videos) to ensure appropriate access and use.
  • Collaborate with project staff and staff based in IDG’s technical divisions and other RTI business units, as well as communications colleagues based in RTI’s Office of Corporate Communications, to achieve shared goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, international development public health, international relations, political science, business administration, or related social sciences and 1 year of experience, Master's degree and some relevant experience.
  • Experience managing or contributing to social media profiles and activities on behalf of a business or nonprofit organization.
  • Experience with creative design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar, to create compelling graphics for social media and presentations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Exposure to and interest in international development or global health strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required and working knowledge of another language(s) (e.g., Arabic, Spanish, or French) is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and/or support complex and geographically disparate project management teams.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work with large and diverse teams
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with ability to accurately and concisely convey complex and technical information.
  • Previous experience supporting a USAID project preferred.
  • Self-starter, able to think creatively and work independently.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent soft skills, including strong interpersonal and communication skills, a problem-solving attitude, and being a self-starter who works both independently and as a collaborative team player.
