Awaken to the untamed beauty of Heathlands as you join Queensland's Department of Environment and Science as an OO5 Ranger. In this crucial role, you'll play a foundational part in the delicate merger of environmental protection and cultural heritage, collaborating under the Indigenous Management Agreement (IMA) to uphold the sanctity of these remote, breathtaking expanses.

Your day-to-day will involve not just the stewardship of this rugged wilderness but also inspiring a dynamic team responsible for the implementation of vital park programs. You'll steer key initiatives such as fire management, meticulous weed and pest control, asset upkeep, and ensuring compliance within the intricate ecosystems of Cape York Peninsula Aboriginal Land (CYPAL).

In the serenity of Heathlands, you will lead with ardour and wisdom, especially during the dry season when the park burgeons with life and tasks, from intricate conservation projects, to liaising with our First Nations partners, to managing the seasonal influx of nature enthusiasts. Your influence in these roles underscores the importance of resilience and versatility in dynamically evolving circumstances.

So much more than just a leadership opportunity, this position will immerse you in one of the most unfettered regions of Queensland. Living at the base, your home within the Heathlands, places you in the thick of the park's daily heartbeat. Here, you will navigate not only the administrative and operational intricacies of park management but also traverse the rugged, untouched landscapes you aim to protect.

The richness of Heathlands' beauty is matched only by the diversity of challenges and opportunities it offers. Successful candidates will blend a strategic mindset with practical environmental know-how, bringing clarity and initiative to complex tasks.

Your communication skills will engage community, visitors, and colleagues alike, infusing professional practices with a deep understanding of cultural values and diversity.

For the visionaries drawn to adventure, who relish both the solitude and the stewardship of the wilderness, and who lead with both heart and expertise,
becoming an OO5 Ranger in Heathlands is your call to action.
