Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Be flexible at all times to assist colleagues and business needs. Job responsibilities: Administration To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures To work in accordance of written protocols Opening and distributing post accordingly Changing back-up tape when colleagues on annual leave/sickness absence Pulling/filing notes and updating as necessary Scanning/filing patient documents into Docman distributing amongst clinicians as per practice protocol Photocopy as requested Reception Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary Cover colleagues annual leave/sickness absence when required Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address Appointments Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person following a strict triage system Deal with visits/requests according to practice protocol Computer Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area) Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines Telephone Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours Other Tasks Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required; loading and emptying the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter Clear rooms after surgeries as and when required Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm Having target driven areas to help achieve max results for example QOF.
