Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.
Position Overview:
The aim of this project is to publish an edited collection to be used as a resource for Women's and Gender studies courses and for courses that focus on social justice organizing. The aim of this book is to highlight how Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) people have come together and worked in different capacities to organize anti-racism movements in Winnipeg.
Duties:
- Prepare equipment and materials for research interviews.
- Perform academic research, standard tests and experiments.
- Monitor and document research status and findings.
- Assist with duties related to the production of articles, publications, reports and presentations.
- Prepare literature reviews.
- Assist in data collection, data entry, analysis and interpretation.
- Assist in the acquisition of research materials and supplies.
- Perform data/word processing, routine computations, and record keeping.
- Perform routine clerical and administrative duties.
- Work collaboratively with other RAs on the project.
- Attend scheduled meetings with community members.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to students who are major/minor in WGS.
Condition(s) of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
The period of work will be from July 21, 2025 - June 30, 2026 and the estimated total hours of work will be 0-260 hours.
