About the role

Nelson Hospital is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join our administrative support team as a Staff and Patient Travel Coordinator. This position is part of a team of three responsible for booking patient and staff travel along with booking accommodation and conferences. This is an integral role within the organisation providing a service to the entire Nelson Marlborough district.

Our preferred applicants will be required to undertake a computer skills assessment.

Working hours are between Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4.30pm

About you:

As a Staff and Patient Travel Coordinator, your duties will include:

  • Coordinating staff travel arrangements, including transportation, accommodation, and itineraries.
  • Organising accommodation and travel for patients when required.
  • Planning and booking conferences and professional development events for staff.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience in administrative or secretarial roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a busy environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with healthcare management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • A typing speed of 50 words per minute or more is essential.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage but not essential.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
