About The Role

The Vehicle Fleet Management division is seeking to appoint a Store Person - Vehicles.

To provide an efficient vehicle and plant parts service to Vehicle Fleet Management ensuring vehicle downtime is kept to a minimum and to be always cost effective.

To work effectively as part of the Council’s Chief Executive Directorate, delivering corporate objectives through the work of the Vehicle Fleet Management Service.

To promote a philosophy of putting service user needs first at every opportunity and to put in place management arrangements that work to action this.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

As part of the Vehicle Fleet Management (VFM) team we ensure provision of effective Fleet support to the Head of Vehicle Fleet Management and services, maintaining filing systems confidentiality in line with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Goods vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995, The Motor Vehicles (Tests) (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2002.

We accurately and skilfully undertake the repair of various types of vehicles, whilst detecting and diagnosing any additional faults, enduring that all work is completed safely and to the Council’s and customers complete satisfaction. To undertake service and repair work on all types of vehicles in a safe and economical manner achieving the highest possible standards of workmanship. Carry out repairs to any vehicle within Vehicle Fleet Managements authorisation to DVSA standards.

Carry out any other reasonable task which may arise from time to time and bring to the attention of the Head of Vehicle Fleet Management any matter which could be detrimental to the wellbeing of the Council.

About You

1.Ability to maintain the cleanliness of vehicle parts stores and bulk oil stores.

2.Ability to understand and interpret risk assessments and method statements.

3.Ability to monitor stock, checking incoming goods and maintain numerical administrative records to a high degree of accuracy. Whilst using ICT systems and hardware to receive and manage daily work schedules.

4.Ability to communicate effectively with a positive approach to solving daily vehicle responsive repair works.

5.Ability to resolve problems with regards to parts using own initiative.

6.Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

Knowledge of statutory legislation regarding health & safety within a vehicle parts stores operation and to demonstrate good, practicable knowledge of a vast range of specialist vehicles and plant and relevant part requirements.

Knowledge of relevant fire legislation, COSHH, and risk assessments and can undergo the relevant training with regards to the purpose of the job

Knowledge of claim procedures for vehicle part warranties and vehicle part credits.

Excellent level of numeracy and literacy to complete a range of forms and reports as required to meet financial deadlines .

Knowledge of stores systems, including computerised systems, with experience of using computers for input and retrieval of data, using Fleet Management software packages including Microsoft packages and stores systems.
