National Gas has an exciting and important role in achieving net zero and in leading a fair energy transition for the UK. We will do this by developing the green gas system of tomorrow, while delivering the natural gas needs of today.
The Operations team maintain, repair and upgrade 7,666km of high-pressure pipe, 23 compressor stations, 504 above-ground installations, and 8 connected distribution networks through a highly skilled team of over 600 technicians and engineers across Great Britain. Working around the clock to maintain and enhance the infrastructure that powers homes, business and industries, guaranteeing a steady and secure energy supply.
About the role
National Gas is looking for a motivated and skilled Stores Operative to join our Ambergate Stores team. Reporting to the Stores Lead, you will play a key role in managing stock and materials efficiently and ensuring customer requests are handled promptly and safely. This position offers variety and responsibility, ranging from overseeing goods receipt and dispatch to maintaining accurate inventory records.
Your main duties will include handling the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring stock levels are accurate and materials are stored properly. You’ll use SAP warehouse management software to record inventory data and generate reports, so experience with this system is highly desirable. Forklift operation will also be a critical part of the role, requiring an active counterbalance licence (B1) to safely move goods and load or unload deliveries.
What we are looking for
We’re looking for someone with experience in a warehouse or stores environment who thrives in a fast-paced setting. Physical fitness is important as the role involves handling heavy objects using equipment like pallet trucks. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, are essential, and excellent communication skills are a must. You'll need to be organised, able to prioritise tasks, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Safety is at the heart of everything we do, and you’ll play a key role in maintaining a clean and hazard-free warehouse while adhering to all health and safety regulations. Additionally, you will be working onsite 5x a week and you’ll be required to participate in a standby rota approximately once every four weeks to support the team when needed.
If you’re ready to bring your skills and energy to a role that offers challenge, variety, and the opportunity to grow within a dynamic organisation, apply today to join the team at National Gas.
What we can offer you
- Annual bonus of 6% based on personal and company performance
- 26 days’ holiday plus statutory holidays - option available to buy extra or sell days
