Student Assistant Right to Food in Africa Program*

in Bonn


The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 1 year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany. You will work 20 hours/week, to enable you to continue your qualification within the framework of your current studies. Mobile work within Germany is possible in agreement with your team. 100% mobile work is not possible. The position is remunerated with 14 Euro per hour.

As Student Assistant, you will support the multi-country program "The Right to Food in Africa - From Policy to Plate". The program aims to improve the implementation of the Right to Food for rural communities by increasing government transparency, strengthening public accountability and ensuring that the voices of marginalized groups are heard in policy processes. The program is coordinated by Welthungerhilfe's Policy and External Relations Unit and implemented by partner organizations with the support of Welthungerhilfe Country Offices in four countries (Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe). You will have the opportunity to participate in the implementation of the program and gain a comprehensive insight into the cross-departmental and international project activities in one of Germany's largest humanitarian aid and development cooperation organizations.

Your responsibilities


  • Support in the organization of online and physical workshops, training courses and events in Germany and abroad
  • Contribute to media and public relations efforts.
  • Support dynamic project management activities, from procurement to detailed reporting, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing the filing systems within Microsoft Teams, ensuring easy access and efficient management.
  • Take on a variety of other engaging activities and challenges, contributing to the success of the team and the organization as a whole.

Your profile


  • You are currently enrolled at a university/college, preferably in the fields of political, social, cultural, or communication sciences, or other relevant programs. A focus on human rights is an advantage.
  • You have already gained some experience in the above-mentioned fields of activity, regional knowledge in Africa is an advantage.
  • You enjoy working in an intercultural environment and have an open-minded personality.
  • You are characterized by a high level of organizational diligence and a conscientious and reliable way of working.
  • You have a very good command of written and spoken of both, English and German
