We are recruiting a Van Helper (Meals Direct) at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Caerphilly County Borough Council have an opportunity for a Van Helper within The Meals Direct Service based at Ty Penallta near Ystrad Mynach.

The Council’s Meals Direct service is a lifeline to many older people across the Borough, delivering hot meals to the door. For some people the daily visit by friendly delivery staff is often their only contact with the outside world.

The post is part time, working 5 days a week Monday to Friday 3.5 hours per day, 52 weeks per year.

As a Van Helper you will assist the Van Driver in delivering meals plus any required support functions to the client. However, you may also be required to cover the Driver’s role on occasion and to work alone depending on the needs of this crucial service. Therefore, you will need a current, full driving licence in order to drive one of our vehicles.

For the role, we ask that you have:

• Required to complete CCBC Manual Handling, Customer Care training and Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
• Ability to empathise with the needs of the client and understand and respect issues of confidentiality.
• Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive a Council vehicle to provide Van Driver cover.
