Working under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant I is accountable for general administrative support for a department or a group of professionals. Collects, compiles and analyzes moderately complex data and information; composes straightforward written descriptions of results. Requires ability to exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning skills. The incumbent will use various PC software packages such as spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, databases, etc., to produce high quality reports, presentations, or other documents.This position reports to the manager or director of a recognized department for supervision, guidance and evaluation. This position does not exercise any supervisory responsibilities.Incumbents in this position have daily contact with staff at all levels within the department in which they work. They may have regular and frequent contact with staff at all levels across the entire hospital either personally or on the phone.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Valley Children’s Hospital is a highly specialized and crucial component of a larger healthcare facility. With 42 beds, it is designed to provide care for patients with high acuity needs. As part of a level 2 trauma center, our PICU is well-equipped to handle a wide range of medical and traumatic emergencies. The patient population of our PICU is diverse, reflecting the complex nature of cases we manage. Approximately 30% of patients are cardiac patients, requiring specialized care for repair of congenital heart defects. Another 30% of patients fall under the category of neuroscience, necessitating expertise in treating neurological disorders and injuries. The remaining 40% of patients are acutely ill with a wide variety of disorders. Our excellent outcomes indicate that the PICU at Valley Children’s is skilled in providing quality care for the sickest of the sick. This unit is perfect for individuals who are interested in exploring avenues to engage in critical thinking and who can work in a high intensity unit as a member of a successful team of nurses, providers, and support staff, making a difference in children’s lives.

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum three (3) years clerical experience that includes data collection and compilation or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required.
