The Role
Under limited supervision, the Buyer-Planner II, procures and executes material requirements for production items according to the MRP plan, analyzes system-planned information for accuracy, releases purchase orders to suppliers, and maintains valid schedules and material control practices.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure continuity of supply, effective competition, quality and prompt delivery of products from internal and external suppliers.
  • Collaborate with more senior Buyer/Planners to utilize metrics and problem-solving techniques to ensure root cause resolution on delivery, lead-time, cost, and other critical performance metrics. Reviews action messages as generated by ERP for accuracy.
  • Uses ERP to analyze supply and demand for components and sub-assemblies. With assistance from more senior Buyer/Planners, analyze component part availability, lot size, lead-time, cost, and other critical parameters.
  • Releases purchase orders to suppliers in a timely and accurate manner aligned with the S&OP process. Produces required support documentation and reschedules existing orders as required.
  • Collaborates with others to identify potential material shortages and expedites as appropriate.
  • In conjunction with more senior Buyer/Planners contributes to category strategies and price negotiations.
  • Uses and creates database, word processing and spreadsheet software as a tool to produce or enhance reports.
  • Works effectively with other members of the organization to improve materials related inventory control systems and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Three to five years of related Materials experience in a manufacturing environment requiring use of an ERP system.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience; professional association certification preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with performing financial modeling using Excel
  • Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
The Nuts and Bolts
Location – This is an “in-office” position 20-40% of the time with Covid precautions being taken. The location of this position is in Boulder, CO. The remainder of the time you may be asked to work from home. These percentages are targets with the actual schedule to be determined in conjunction with the Manager's expectations for the position and training requirements. Relocation may be offered for this role, but local candidates will receive first consideration.

Pay Range
$48,100 – 73,830 depending upon experience
How we determine what we pay (compensation philosophy)
Particle Measuring Systems determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for the Boulder, Colorado area. We will evaluate external equity, which is the relative marketplace job worth of jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. For new hires, we to make competitive offers between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. This allows the new employee room for future merit increases during review cycles. There may be times when we will offer above the midpoint. The decision to do so will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and the compensation rates of the employees within the company doing the same position.
