As Chief Commercial Officer you'll be a member of the Executive Committee and will be responsible for the Commercial Contracts Function which has the following subfunctions: Legal, Commercial, Procurement and Data Protection.

You and your team will play a key part in all material contract negotiations with both existing and new clients as well as all suppliers. The Legal Function will be responsible for the organisation's legal framework.

Working closely with internal teams such as Growth and Finance, your role as Chief Commercial Officer is to understand and be the approver of all matters relating to commercial contracts as well as ensuring that the organisation is aware of all legal, commercial and contractual risks. Post-contract, you evaluate the impact on the commercials of implementation and ongoing servicing. You discuss proactively with clients when arrangements are working or not working and initiate discussions when entering renewals or tricky commercial negotiations.

Please note this is a Certified role under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) and is subject to ongoing fitness and propriety. Further details of your responsibilities as a Certified individual can be found in the SM&CR Policy.

Day to day activities will include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing the team to achieve individual and departmental objectives
  • Liaising with clients to resolve any commercial issues
  • Overseeing the commercial aspects of the Bid process from inception through contracting to ongoing contract management.
  • Providing timely, accurate and reliable management data and analysis to enable the company meets its regulatory and financial obligations
  • Managing the Commercial Team budget effectively
  • Working with the CFO and COO to develop a commercial strategy.
  • Leading key commercial negotiations with 3rd parties to deliver support profitable revenue growth for Target
  • Reviewing all existing commercial agreements with clients to mitigate risks and maximise opportunities
  • Ensuring that effective Risk and Compliance policies and appropriate controls are in place
  • Championing and maintaining high levels of corporate governance
  • Defining and leading the process for achieving agreement on all commercial contracts


Requirements

You're someone who is:

  • Analytical and a skilled problem-solver
  • Confident in prioritising their workload without sacrificing quality
  • Able to establish, develop and maximise strong working relationships, both internally and with clients
  • Able to lead and successfully conclude complex negotiations


You're someone who has the following experience:

  • Developing and implementing commercial strategy
  • Leading and successfully concluding complex negotiations
  • Managing a team
  • Influencing Executive Committee/Board level stakeholders
  • Working in a commercial role in a BPO/ IT services/ Financial Services/ a regulated environment (desirable)
  • Proven experience in a Chief Commercial Officer or similar executive role
  • A successful track record in Financial Services working with multiple stakeholders
