JOB DESCRIPTION

The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for a contract position of Community Liaison Assistant in the Business Development, Tourism and Modernization Division of the Corporate Services Department. The contract period will begin on May 6 th , 2024 and end on August 31, 2024.

DUTIES

  • Provide guided tours of the interior of the Leacock Museum along with providing information on the history of the family, Stephen Leacock's works and the house, boathouse, and grounds.
  • Provide basic care, cleaning and maintenance of the museum's historical buildings with particular attention to all public and staff areas including washrooms, hallways, walkways and touchpoints.
  • Provide support in artifact research, conservation and organization.
  • Research exhibit subjects and assist in obtaining permissions along with didactic creation and artifact mounting.
  • Provide assistance in the development of future programming.
  • Other duties as assigned in accordance with corporate objectives.

Qualifications

  • Must be between the ages of 16 and 30 and planning to return to full-time studies in September 2024.
  • Excellent organization, planning and communication skills both written and oral including proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Knowledge of current cleaning methods, products, tools and procedures gained through formal training and/or related job experience.
  • Read and understand the proper instructions and safety warnings on products.
  • A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check is required for this position at the incumbent's expense, prior to the commencement date.

Compensation for this position is $16.55 to $16.63 per hour for a 37.5-hour work week. Applications will be accepted until April 8, 2024, at noon.
