Job Summary:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Courier is responsible for picking up and transporting goods from suppliers to the location(s) specified by the corresponding purchase orders. The Courier is also responsible for verifying shipments, loading, and unloading goods to be transported, keeping detailed records of deliveries, submitting packing slips to various stakeholders, reporting any issues with the items being delivered tracking mileage, fuel costs, and inspecting their delivery vehicle.
Main Responsibilities:
Works within Safety Guidelines
- Performs work in accordance with legislated and company specific safety regulations.
- Always ensures the safety of tenants and coworkers.
- Practices safe operation of vehicle; drive delivery vehicle.
- Reports any unsafe conditions to the Safety & Health Coordinator.
- Loads and unloads products to be delivered.
- Inspects the delivery vehicle regularly.
- Wears safety equipment and company uniform while working (steel toed shoes, safety vest).
Delivery Requirements
- Provides courier delivery between all Edison Properties and Head Office locations.
- Provides courier delivery of material and supplies as required and scheduled.
- Adds fuel and maintains detailed records of fuel costs and mileage.
- Maintains favorable relationship with vendors, while remaining professional at all times.
- Collects payment or receives signatures for proof of delivery when/if required.
- Ensures all items being delivered remain intact during transport and delivery.
- Follows processes and procedures.
- Communicates with vendors, coworkers and supervisors clearly and respectfully at all times.
- Prioritizes day-to-day assignments.
- Checks in with reception on a regular basis for new/updated information and/or assignments.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements
- Must hold a valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Previous experience as Courier considered an asset.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs on an ongoing basis.
- Experience using a cell phone with accuracy and ability to utilize applications such as google maps to navigate the city.
- Should possess a calm demeanor and professional attitude.
- Ability to work alone of within a team environment.
- Must be flexible and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills and good command of the English language.
- Must provide and maintain clear Criminal Record Check.
- Must have and maintain clear driving record.
