The Data Scientist will be responsible for structuring, managing, and prioritizing a wide range of data management activities, tasks, and priorities across all CBE business units. This position will take a strategic and service-oriented approach to working with the management of each business unit to define, recommend and resource their specific data management needs and priorities. The Data Scientist will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help develop, implement, and maintain effective statistical models. This position will perform advanced analytics and data mining to identify revenue opportunities, performance trends, cost efficiencies, and other items which support corporate or horizontal objectives.
The Data Scientist will structure, test and analyze data in support of corporate or horizontal decisions, including, but not limited to account segmentation/scoring methodology, skip trace, direct mail, account strategy effectiveness. This position will assist the Operational Vice Presidents & Strategy team in data analysis designed to develop strategic and tactical management procedures to support the goals for each line of business. The Data Scientist will participate with other decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operational requirements, and systemic goals as required. This position will provide post-project analysis and create reporting up-dates to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements and outcomes.

  • Develop and manage execution of hypothesis-based analytics with sound results.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and execute advanced statistical models.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and execute reporting solutions.
  • Demonstrate ability to participate in and oversee multiple analytic efforts and quality checks concurrently.
  • Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big-data stores; perform data and error analysis to improve models; clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy.
  • Serve as lead data strategist to identify and integrate new datasets that can be leveraged through our product capabilities and work closely with the engineering team in the development of data products.
  • Execute analytical experiments to help solve problems across various domains and industries.
  • Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables.
  • Coach operational and cross-functional teams in preparing final deliverables.
  • Take macro view of industry and incorporate said view into team.
  • Generate innovative approaches to address business problems.
  • Translate objectives into hypotheses and teamwork plans with discrete modules.
  • Extract, create, organize, utilize, and interpret data from report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts for analytical and modeling purposes.

Job Requirements:
  • BA/BS Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. MA/MS Degree preferred.
  • Three to six years of data science & analysis (statistical, business, data, operational, or financial) experience required.
  • Must be able to obtain government clearance after hire. US Citizenship is required by the US government in order to obtain government clearance.
  • Proficiency in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
  • Mid to Advanced experience in Microsoft Products, such as Excel, Access and PowerPoint, Visio required.
  • Experience with PowerBI or TableauSQL, and programming languages (ex: Java/Python, R, SQL, SAS), familiarity with Scala Java or C++ is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with report writing tools, particularly SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with multiple statistical software products preferred.
  • Must be proficient in SAS, provide documentation of successful training completion and demonstrate ability to perform task commiserate to the SAS Certified Programmer level.
  • Statistical and business modeling experience required.

  • Excellent understanding of the organizations goals and objectives and this positions role in accomplishing these goals and objectives.

The pay range for this position is $73,000-$100,000/year plus a potential quarterly incentive. An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience.
