PWTransit is currently seeking a part-time Dispatcher to join our team in Terrace. Reporting to the Manager, the Dispatcher is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of driver communication, scheduling, and routing. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills. This position is tailor made for an individual looking for part-time hours or to supplement their income.

The shift for this position is Saturdays, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm with additional hours available for vacation relief.

Wage: $23.90 per hour

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous work-related skills and experience in a Dispatch role considered an asset
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a composed manner
• Previous customer service / admin experience
• Detailed knowledge of Terrace and surrounding area
• Organization and ability to multi-task
• Diplomacy and tact
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel would be an asset

Responsibilities:

• Schedule and Dispatch HandyDART services for Terrace and Kitimat
• Perform data entry
• Prepare vehicle and driver assignments, communicate with maintenance and operations staff effectively by providing clear and concise information, explanation and direction
• Advise personnel about route or traffic problems that could affect operations or customer service
• Relay messages, and exchange information using a variety of communication devices, including computer-aided dispatching equipment
• Confer with customers or supervisory personnel to address questions, concerns, and/or requests
• Receive and respond to requests for emergency assistance or service from dispatched resources
• Record and maintain dispatch files and records of customer requests, and other dispatch information
• Use various computer applications and databases, and obtain and apply computer-generated information to dispatching activities

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.90 per hour
