Assist/advise in the completion of bladder and bowel diaries. Communicates very sensitive condition related information to patients and relatives with empathy and reassurance. Record patient interactions and interventions on the IT system used by Provide CIC (currently Systm1) and update them as needed. Recommend appropriate products as agreed.
To deal as appropriate with unpleasant conditions such as exposure to body fluids. Perform Bladderscan for assessment of residual urine (once competency is achieved) Undertake drainage of residual urine (female patients) (once competency is achieved) Undertake uncomplicated catheterisation, as delegated by specialist nurse (once competency is achieved) Provide emotional care for patients within your specialist sphere of work. In the course of your clinical work provide appropriate help to patients who require physical assistance. Organises own workload in conjunction with team and organisational requirements.
Use a computer tablet remotely for all patient records. Record data and evidence of activity as requested via Systm One Provide teaching informally on a one to one basis to patients/carers Self development. Maintaining and developing your competence. Ensure a Personal Development Plans and mandatory training are completed annually.
Interact within the Integrated Bladder and Bowel Service. Be responsible for your own professional actions. Acknowledge limitations in skills and knowledge, refer as appropriate. Deliver clinical nursing care in line with The Trust policies, procedures and health and safety directives.
In line with National Service Frameworks (NSFs) and/or Department of Health Guidelines and/or National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE). Within a legal and ethical framework seeking consent always in line with the Trusts policy. Within a multidisciplinary framework. Within a nursing process and Essence of Care framework.
Within agreed MDT and Trust approved protocols. Within a holistic framework.
