The Court is the only principal organ of the United Nations not serviced by the Secretariat. The Registry is headed by a Registrar, elected by the Court. An integral part of the Registry of the Court, the Information Department, is responsible for ensuring that the ICJ’s proceedings are accessible to its target audiences, including the diplomatic corps, media, academic community and general public, and for raising awareness and promoting greater understanding the Court’s role and activities. The Information Department is looking for interns, preferably with a basic knowledge of international law, and of the role of the Court in general.
