IOM in The Netherlands has been the main implementer of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) activities since 1992. Voluntary return is one of
the main pillars of the Dutch return policy, with voluntary return taking precedence over forced returns. During the past decades IOM has evolved to cover the full range of AVRR support: 1) pre-departure support including assistance tailored to the needs of migrants in situation of vulnerability, facilitating travel documentation; 2) travel assistance; and 3) post arrival and reintegration. IOM has developed more specialised activities offering specific support to migrants in a situation of vulnerability including medical cases, victims of trafficking and unaccompanied migrant children
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Unit AVRR Project Coordination and Liaison in The Hague and direct supervision of the Senior AVRR project assistant and, in close collaboration with relevant units at IOM The Hague and different governmental partners, the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of the relevant administrative and financial processes for the AVRR project.
Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.
Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.
Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
High School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights,
Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and nongovernmental
organizations.
Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multicultural
setting is an advantage.
Skills
Excellent administration and coordination skills
Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain trust and good working relationships with counterparts.
Dedication to the support of beneficiaries and hands on mentality
Team-work-oriented, capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work well under pressure and to keep deadlines
Excellent computer knowledge and skills in MS office packages
Knowledge of the United Nations system is an advantage
Candidates within commuting distance of the duty station (The Hague) are highly encouraged to apply
Languages
Fluency in English is required (oral and written)
Fluency in Dutch is required (oral and written)
