Job Position: Livelihood Officer

Duty Location: Dadu base ( Frequent Traveling to Jamshoro)

Role and Responsibilities:

The Livelihood officer will primarily focus on designing and implementing livelihood interventions aimed at enhancing food security and resilience among flood-affected communities in Sindh Province, with a particular emphasis on promoting sustainable agricultural practices and facilitating economic recovery. The livelihood officer will be responsible for the following deliverables;

  • Work closely with the Project Coordinator and other relevant stakeholders to develop comprehensive livelihood intervention plans aligned with project goals and objectives.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify the specific livelihood needs, challenges, and opportunities of the target communities in Districts Dadu and Jamshoro.
  • Design context-specific interventions and strategies to restore and diversify livelihoods, with a focus on sustainable agricultural practices and economic recovery.
  • To implement the livelihood activities in the designated geographical areas, ensuring adherence to project timelines, and quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective coordination mechanisms with project partners, government agencies, local authorities, and community representatives to facilitate smooth implementation and maximize impact.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and capacity-building support to beneficiaries/ community members, and relevant stakeholders involved in livelihood-related activities
  • To support the Supervisor / MEAL Coordinator in developing robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to systematically track the progress, outputs, and outcomes of livelihood interventions.
  • Regularly collect, analyze, and report data on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and impact of livelihood programs.
  • Collection of case studies/success stories and best practices for sharing with Supervisor/ management.
  • Support and guide the communities for the establishment of structures like village committees required in the implementation of project intervention.
  • Foster meaningful engagement and participation of target communities throughout the project cycle, ensuring their active involvement in decision-making, planning, and implementation processes.
  • Organize community meetings, focus group discussions, and other participatory approaches to solicit feedback, address concerns and promote ownership of livelihood initiatives.
  • Promote gender equality and social inclusion by integrating gender-sensitive and culturally appropriate approaches into livelihood programming, ensuring equitable access and benefits for all community members.
  • Any other task assigned by the Supervisor.

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in agriculture, rural development, economics, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 03 years of relevant experience in implementing, and managing livelihood interventions, preferably in the context of disaster response, humanitarian assistance, or community development in NGOs/INGOs/UN Agencies

  • Good understanding of sustainable agricultural practices, market systems, value chain development, and economic empowerment approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, generate actionable insights, and communicate findings effectively.

  • Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian principles, ethical standards, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in conducting thorough assessments to identify specific livelihood needs, challenges, and opportunities in target communities.
  • Fluency in English and Urdu, with proficiency in local languages spoken in Sindh Province (e.g., Sindhi) preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office ( Excel, Word and Outlook)
