JOB SUMMARY:

As a Material Handler with USA Industries, your role is pivotal in the efficient movement and storage of materials within warehouses or distribution centers. Your duties encompass receiving incoming shipments, meticulously verifying their contents against shipping documents, and ensuring their careful storage in designated areas. Precision and attention to detail are paramount as you meticulously record inventory levels and update databases or inventory systems accordingly.

Moreover, you'll be responsible for preparing outgoing shipments by selecting items from inventory, securely packing them, and liaising with shipping carriers to ensure prompt delivery. Operating within tight deadlines, your efficiency and organizational skills are crucial in meeting order fulfillment targets and maintaining a seamless flow of materials throughout the facility. Adherence to safety protocols and the maintenance of a clean, organized workspace are also integral aspects of your role to prevent accidents and optimize material handling processes.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Inspect incoming material labels for accuracy, completeness, defects, and quality, comparing them meticulously to U-Code records, purchase orders, or other relevant documentation.
  • Accurately record all received quantities in ERP system, updating information promptly to reflect real-time inventory levels.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure accuracy and availability of stock and notify appropriate personnel when stock levels are low.
  • Utilize shelving, racks, or other storage systems effectively to optimize space utilization and maintain efficient access to stored materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Retrieve items from inventory accurately according to pick lists or job travelers, ensuring adherence to order specifications and quantities.
  • Promptly transact material issuances and returns to their respective orders within ERP system ensuring accurate quantities and material U-Codes are recorded both in writing and digitally within the transaction.
  • Maintain organization and traceability of material delivered throughout the facility.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks safely and proficiently, adhering to established operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with supervisors, coworkers, and other team members to coordinate tasks, share information, and prioritize work activities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other areas and performing additional tasks as required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in material handling procedures, suggesting, and implementing changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist in training new hires on material handling procedures, safety protocols, and company policies to ensure they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime, and be available for on-call duties as needed.
  • Execute various tasks, as assigned by your manager, supervisor, or company officer, whether within your standard duties or as requested beyond regular responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Work Experience

  • 6 months – 1 year of handling materials or warehousing experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Skills

  • Proficient PC skills (email, scan & upload documents, internet, Microsoft Office, etc.), including warehouse management and inventory software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, other departments, and customers.
  • Forklift certified or ability to obtain certification.
  • Utilize tools for measurements and counting (tape measure, weight & count scales, etc.).
  • Proficient in multitasking, effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities concurrently.
  • Willingness to work weekends and overtime hours, with flexibility to accommodate varying schedules.
  • Available for on-call duty as scheduled, demonstrating readiness to respond to work-related needs outside of regular hours.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.
  • Continuous standing and/or walking.
  • Moderate physical effort- working frequently with average weights of ten to fifty pounds or continuously with lighter weights.
  • Good eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Ability to work in cold, hot and/or dusty environment, with noisy conditions.
